I waited a year and then found the perfect day to read Dave Mazzuchelli’s Asterios Polyp. I expect that this is the book that I will think and talk about more than almost any other over the next five years or so. Beautiful structure and precise narrative.

My friend Edward Mullany, who is a disturbingly impressive writer (and editor of Matchbook), can draw – and paint. I had no idea.
